Role Playing
For those that are new to the concept, RP stands for Role Play.
Role playing is the process of acting out a character, acting as
the character would in a situation, doing what the character
would. Here are a few tips to maintaining a plausible character:
-Make use of the newbie channel. Don't shout or yell OOC
questions, especially ones like "How do I remake my character?"
or "How do I get skills?"
-Don't use acronyms ICly, like saying 'AFK,' or 'BRB.' Also
refrain from using certain words which don't belong to the theme,
like modem, Internet, computer, or anything else that should be
said OOC.
-Make use of the OOC command for anything not related to your
character. Keep in mind you should also not mention anything
IC with this. People caught using it to get past any IC barriers,
especially language, will be punished as seen fit.
-OOC terms said ICly will only confuse people. Try to say them
in an IC manner or use the OOC command to say them.
-Accursed Lands is NOT oriented on combat. You don't need to
go around murdering innocent civilians to get better at anything.
If you want to learn to fight, get a hold of a friend, grab a couple
of staves or other blunt weapon, and spar a bit, using defensive
styles to avoid serious injury.
-Keep your weapons sheathed when not in use. It's very
intimidating to see people running around with weapons drawn all
over.
-With the naming system, you can have several aliases. You don't
have to give out your real character's name if you don't want.
-Try not to use the shout or yell command very often. People
normally don't go around yelling at the top of their lungs so the
whole town can hear. Instead, find people and actually talk to
them instead of having a conversation from opposite sides of town.
