Rate
OOC contributions is your overall contribution to the progress of
building both the MUD and its community. A lot of this is covered in
'help helping' file. If the rating is negative, that might mean that you
are not contributing enough. If it's an IC contribution, it belongs more
under the IC believability header. Some other things that might lower your
rating are talking about IC stuff on the OOC channels, or through any other
means like AIM, ICQ, or when talking in the OOC zones here.
IC believability is your ability as an actor, or roleplayer. It entails many
factors such as not talking about OOC stuff, staying consistent with the theme
of the areas, and generally making your character feel real. It doesn't have
to be done with another player, attempting to roleplay with an npc or doing
stuff in an empty room is fine. If someone observes good roleplay, you'll
probably get a better rating, while if you spam the same thing at npc to learn
a language, as an example, it'll probably get lowered.
Guidelines & Hints:
Try to educate people first if you want to rate them poorly. After all, we all
had to learn the ropes at one point. If after your attempts to explain things
to them they still don't get it, then go ahead and put in your poor rating.
If you see someone doing a good job at something, go ahead and rate them well.
When you are in the middle of some good rp, don't worry about rating them right
away. You don't need to be in the same room to rate someone. Wait for a quiet
moment later on. There are also a lot of safeguards to prevent abuse, so don't
worry about that too much.
