Emote
Syntax:
emote [message]
Places any message you specify directly after your name.
Emotes represent In Character (IC) actions that are not
available among currently coded commands/feelings.
You may use the Syntax: ~[name] to denote a person.
The ':' character is a default alias for 'emote'.
Example:
>:pulls on ~jill's nose.
Would display to you as:
You pull on Jill's nose.
To Jill as:
Jack pulls on your nose.
And to others as:
Jack pulls on Jill's nose.
This example assumes that everyone present has 'Jack' and 'Jill'
named; if they did not, the names would have been replaced with
the characters' short descriptions.
Usage Guidelines
Emotes should consist of actions that are realistically
possible for your character.
Emotes should NOT:
* contain any Out Of Character (OOC) elements
* attempt to spoof MUD messages or otherwise mislead
* be used to circumvent communication restrictions
(such as the language barrier)
* force actions or reactions upon other beings.
It should go without saying that emotes should not be designed to
annoy, harass, or offend a player (as opposed to his/her character),
through spamming, use of vulgarity, or similar means.
Examples of inappropriate emotes:
(concerning realism)
>:sprouts mischievous little devil-horns atop her head.
>:turns ~jill into a horned toad.
>:looks puzzled, a large question mark hanging over her head.
(concerning restrictions)
>:writes in the dirt: 'My name is Jack, who are you?'
>:looks like he wants to know where the tavern is and will pay for help.
>:says, I'm Jill, nice to meet you.
(concerning OOC elements)
>:plays a few chords from 'Stairway to Heaven' on her six string guitar.
>:honks ~jack's nose like a car horn.
>:gained a level at whittling.
Note that though your skill at whittling is In Character, the
mechanic description of it is considered Out Of Character.
(concerning misleading)
>:completes his spell and directs it at ~jill.
>:hands a ruby crown to ~jack.
>:catches ~jill with one hand on his purse.
(concerning forcing actions/reactions)
>:kicks ~jack firmly in the crotch. ~jack mewls pathetically.
>:sings a song so sad it makes you wipe away some tears.
>:poses in a shaft of sunlight, amazing everyone with his
impressive physique.
Note that forcing an opinion or conclusion on someone, as the
conclusion that Jack's physique is impressive, is considered to
be forcing a reaction upon a person.
Pemote
Syntax:
pemote message
Places any message you specify directly after your name in the possessive form.
For example:
> "pemote hair rises."
would have others see:
Lathander's hair rises.
You may use the Syntax: ~lathander to denote a person.br>
For example, if you typed:
> "pemote grin turns to a puzzled frown as he notices ~lathander"
Lathander would see:
Jack's grin turns to a puzzled frown as he notices you.
You would see:
Your grin turns to a puzzled frown as you notice Lathander.
Feelings
Syntax:
feelings [pattern]
With a pattern, feelings will show you all souls matching the given pattern.
Without an argument, feelings will list all available soul commands.
Examples:
feelings -- show all souls
feelings s -- show all souls beginning w/ an s
feelings s*e -- show all souls beginning w/ an s,
having anything in the middle, and
ending with an e.
