What is the best species to play, i've been playing the same species over and over again because it's what i'm familiar with, and while i'd like to play something new, there isn't enough info on each species to really decide between the pro's and the cons, is there somplace to really get a good sumation of a species as a whole?

pick based on how their culture would fit with your playing style... should be able to find that out in game.

-There is no BEST race

-They might be BETTER at some things than others

-If you are looking the BEST race, so you can play with over and over.... This may not be the game for you

-The website has some information about the races.

I don't know long you usually keep a character, or how long you've been playing,  but you might just try rotating through the different races and see which one you like that way. There are positives and negatives to each one, I'm sure. Hopefully, you can find enough info on the races section of the site and in character generation to give you an idea of how to play each one.

Good luck. Smiley

I have to agree with DeeDeeAL, while there is no best race overall, there probably is a best race for you.

I've played the following races:
  • Aquaepura
  • Braman
  • Mysrra
And I thoroughly enjoy playing mysrrae, in fact 90% of my characters have been mysrra. I just love RPing the tail.

Of course, my fondness for cats in general probably has something to do with it as well.

One of these days I'll get around to playing the goblin and human races.

And for crying out loud, DON'T pick a race that you think you might not be able to roleplay properly (or, if you do, carefully observe other players and your starting city for ideas on how to properly portray your choice).  If I had a nickel for every aquaepura I've met who blatantly told me what they were and/or seemed surprised when they were met with anger or fear when their nature was discovered, I would be a very rich lassie.

I'd probably vote aquaepurae as one of the hardest races to roleplay properly if I hadn't played several myself and not had any trouble whatsoever hiding my identity.  It was actually quite fun, ranging from paranoid denial to simply ignoring any potentially incriminating behaviors (and keeping a nice bag of fresh fruit on hand).  So I'll just say they attract the largest number of screaming idiots who couldn't find their backsides with both hands, a map, and a mirror.

The fact that other players complain (ICly) about racism still alternately cracks me up and makes me want to beat their heads in with one of my previous long-winded posts on the topic...

I have played for a few years on and off, and have played a few different races: a few aqua's, a braman, a goblin, and a human.

Like others before me have said there is no race that is better than another, what you have to keep in mind is the abilities of different races.

aqua's - definatly the hadest to play in my opinion, being the cousins of braman the inherit most of the natural braman abilities, such as being quite adept at crafting, being quite good at magic, and their appearance; they also can breathe underwater. This strange ability causes them to be subject to never ending persecution as such they are not normally accepted in society if they are know to be an aqua. So aqua's tend to keep their identity quiet and live out their like other braman when in public places. Most aqua's i have encountered and/or played were bent on destruction trying to gain acceptance into society by force. (I think their locked as of current cant remember)

Braman - An island based race, normally a good natured and peaceful, but keep in mind every rose has its thorns, are well know to be exelent craftsmen, herbalists, and scholors. They get sick if they eat meat, so in return are naturally good at finding herbs, plants, and such. Normally live as traders and are usually well known and respected for their wisdom.

Goblins - Ok if the job is down and dirty it is usually a goblin that does it. Goblins are short in stature and are renowned to be very resourceful when needsed. They normally seem to have a short fuse and are very warlike, so goblins are normally taught as children how to throw a good jab and such. They are normally blunt and get strait to the point if they even talk to you. Also have the ability to be great craftsmen and are alos know to be quite efficient miners.

Humans - My favorite race, seem to me to be the most balanced in the game, they dont exactly seem to have overwhelming ability at anything over other races. but seem to not have as many flaws also. Humans have nor norm to say, they have thiefs, murderers, sorceres, craftsmen, tradesmen, hunters and most other types of professions. Though if they are normally known for something it is their hunters, humans are larger and stronger than other races so it would seem fit to be know for its hunting.

I hope this has been helpful, if it hasnt i am sorry. i know i probobly repeated what someone else has said, but i put my little piece of opionion in. Any questions e-mail me at Muse_chevelle@hotmail.com

I've played all five races, but some FAR more extensively than others.

Mostly, I rotate mysrrae and aquapurae.

I found goblins the hardest to play, because I have had a great deal of difficulty with collecting theme for that race.  I have a lot of conflicting views surrounding them.

And I rarely/never play braman. Cheesy Just not my thing.

I just thought I'd point out that the aqua persecution isn't exactly thematic.  Thats just something that evolved from a small typo.  Just an interesting fact.

I think it mostly depends on your playing style. I know a certain race that hardly ANYONE plays that's pretty powerful. Other races have certain advantages that people don't seem to see their other hidden flaws.

Any best race depends on your playing style.  At time of writing, mysrra have the religion, braman have the intelligence, goblins have some protection aganist poison, aquas can swim undewater, halaks can fly, and humans are pretty average, but hold most of the (current) known AL world.

There are, of course, many other points to each of the races, but any choice should be a roleplaying one rather than a stat/skill one.  When deciding to play a character, it'd be in your best interests to write up a quick rpprofile (for yourself) about that character.  Then, you can decide which race to pick.  Helpfiles and the hints with each arch in character creation give you a good canvas on which to paint your new profile.. though we are still lacking in many races, there should (hopefully) be an avenue open for every character.

I've played all of them, and I'd say, Humans or Halaks are my favorite. Humans can be extra hot, while Halaks can fly(extra ++). I was a Halak smith, and my Humans have been mostly Tailors or Hunters. The only disadvantages I had with the others is that I'd forget something and people would say I'm a 'tard.  Tongue

Oh, this was a pretty old thread. Mechanics wise, it's humans and bramen. They're the "best". Humans are super newbie friendly, and bramen are gods amongst mortals. It really just depends on what you personally get enjoyment from playing, and how much patience you have for grinding levels. Some races learn slowly, so people might not like them. Others have jacked up stats. Some move quick, some can fly. There's a niche that every one of them fills, so you just get a general idea and then work with it. Though from my point of view, I discount certain races even though they kick ass because of low learning speed. It kinda outweighs their talent as fighters, thieves...crafters...well, pretty much everything, really...

Hmm, yes, because "best race" is certainly only a matter of stats and skill grinding.  It's not like AL's an RP game or anything.
